Lenora Sweet Eulogy by Michael Sweet

I am Michael Sweet and I am here to honor my mother, Lenora.

In preparing this eulogy, I struggled with how to condense a ninety-year life into a short twenty minutes. Just kidding Father Charlie.

So here are five themes that I picked: foreigner, education, family life, spiritual life, endurance.

Lenora Elizabeta Stoia Sweet - Obituary

This is the obituary my husband, Mike, wrote about his mother. He told me he wrote a long one because it may be the only document available to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren about their ancestors and their ancestry. But I think the truth is that he wrote it long to honor his mother.

I Love Funerals

We buried my husband's mother this past Friday, January 27. She was ninety years old. It can be very hard for children to say their final goodbyes to their mother. There were tears.

But Lenora Stoia Sweet's final send-off was also happy, because we knew that after five years of struggle, her spirit was finally free of the suffocating veil of Alzheimer's disease. No more earthly suffering.
